Abused-in-the-corner

Are you living your life?

Are you living the life you want to live? The life you dreamed of when you were young, full of hope for your unlimited future?
Are you living your life, or someone else’s?
If you do not feel you are in control of your life, you are not alone.
Many people are stuck within someone else’s control, such as living in an abusive relationship. Or, they may be under the control of a substance, such as cigarettes, alcohol, food or drugs…and the list goes on.
I know, because I spent the majority of my life under other people’s control - In an abusive relationship as well as my people pleasing need to be loved.
I know all too well, I’ve been there.
For years I was imprisoned within a lifeless existence. However, instead of trying to find myself within my sadness, I added insult to injury by burying my feelings with food addictions.
You see, my emotional defense was to live in denial...
...Doing this gave away another level of my control.
I would not (or could not) face my reality because my life had become overwhelming and unbearable.

I could not face my issues

Because I chose not to face my issues, I turned to food as my comfort. But, the momentary relief only added to my troubles because I developed an unhealthy relationship with food… doubling my dress size.
Whether it is person or substance that we give control, I can relate to both.

How about you?

Do you feel you are living the life you want to live?
Do you feel you have the right to live the life of your dreams?
If not, time to listen...
